There are few things more frightening to a parent than losing custody of their children or having their children taken from them involuntarily. If this has happened to you, our law firm can help.
The CPS, after an initial referral and investigation, follows these steps:
- Removal of child from home
- Dependency petition filed
- Shelter care hearing within 72 hours of removal
- Fact-finding hearing within 75 days of removal
Washington State law concerning dependencies is highly technical and very complex. Mrs. Galeles-Izer has always kept informed of the workings of and changes to the processes of CPS. In the past, she has successfully pursued legal cases against CPS and has helped parents get their children back.
Termination of Parental Rights
The legal action known as the 'termination of parental rights' applies to both dependency law cases and to adoptions. In dependency cases, filing for the termination of parental rights occurs if it is determined that the current and future best interests of the child will be best served by placing them outside of the home.
